Once again the holidays are around the corner and its time to stress craft! We have a family tradition of making ornaments as gifts each year. We try to choose a theme and build the handmade ornaments around that theme.

This year we chose a parody of “12 days of Christmas” for our ornament theme. There were plenty of rhymes and goofy takes on the song, but my 10 year old came with a literal interpretation of the lyrics. We started with “two turtle doves” as literals turtles that were also doves. Who knows if future years with include other iterations from the songs. We had a few versions: “Five GOLDEN rings [retrievers],” “Four [Border] COLLIE Birds,” “Partridge in a PAIR tree.”
